vegUI is a collection of widgets and an AJAX framework that leverages JavaScript to create dynamic browser-based web applications.
- Speed
- Compact Design
- Total control over appearance and flexibility
- Modular Design
The developers of vegUI were able to abide by all these basic principles, and after two and a half years since its development, vegUI can finally be released to the public.
Firstly, vegUI uses an efficient template system that permits users to define any vegUI element/widget as a template, saving on time, space and resources while coding and speeding up the loading process of the scripts. Secondly, instead of loading and building all modules at once, which is otherwise necessary for big applications, vegUI can activate particular modules as per the user’s requirement, even after the page has been loaded.
The size of the vegUI package is comparably smaller than many other window managers and widget collections, as it comes with a commented and a compressed library, with the compressed library nearly reaching 75 KB without comments, whereas the commented library accounts for nearly 200 KB.
Thanks to its modular design and template engine, vegUI grants customers total control over the appearance of the widgets they create. By using a lot of HTML nodes, vegUI enables users to style HTML nodes using CSS and JavaScript in any way they like. Moreover, vegUI was built in the beginning itself to be modular, making it painlessly easy to add new widgets or elements to the existing ones.
Lastly, vegUI was developed in compliance with international standards and currently supports the latest versions of Mozilla-based browsers (Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape), Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6 (slow), and Opera. The latest release of vegUI rectifies the bug with the vegUIBridge that previously resulted in the crash of IE6 as well as adding an option to disable key scrolling for the content box widget, and resolving the issue with closing of nested menus in the dropdown menu widget.
Overall, vegUI is an incredible tool for developing efficient and visually appealing websites, as it provides total control, flexibility, and speed in both designing and loading.
