The software has an integrated text viewer (X File View, xfv) and an RPM viewer, installer, and uninstaller (X File Query, xfq). Xfe has a status line, supports file associations, auto-save registry, and a right mouse-click pop-up menu in the tree list and file list.
Users can use Xfe to change the attributes of a file, mount/unmount devices for Linux, use a toolbar, create bookmarks (up to 20), and choose from various color schemes, including GNOME, KDE, and Windows. To run Xfe, users need the FOX graphical toolkit library. Versions 0.70 and above require the FOX library 1.2.x, while earlier versions require 1.0.x. Note that Xfe 0.70 and above are not compatible with the development versions of FOX (1.3.x series). Xfe is compatible with most Unix systems but does not run on Windows.
