The amaroK Last.fm tags script retrieves Last.fm tags for artists, albums, and tracks. It's a software tool that simplifies the process of finding and implementing tags for music, providing an efficient way to manage and organize music collections.
It's worth noting that this script only fetches your tags - it doesn't synchronize changes you make locally back to Last.fm. However, this feature should be coming in the future with the implementation of "labels" in amaroK 1.5.
Additionally, it's currently only possible to fetch tags for a selection within a playlist. The other context sub-menus provide helpful messages stating that this feature isn't implemented yet.
Of course, as with any software, there are no guarantees, but I haven't experienced any issues with it thus far. I want to give thanks to Miguel Angel Alvarez, whose amaroK Replaygain script served as the basis for this script.
In terms of requirements, you'll need amaroK 1.4.1, Python, and Python Mutagen to use this script. The recent update added the ability to fetch tags for artist/albums/tracks with non-ASCII characters, though unfortunately, the pop display shows the characters munged.
Overall, the amaroK Last.fm tags script is a useful tool for anyone looking to organize their music library and create custom playlists based on their tags.
