AmarokWhatsPlaying MAO is a script that uses Amarok to send the name of the playing music through HTTP.
The first script is the "whatsplaying_mao.pl" script, where the variables "$LINKSCRIPT" and "$CHAVE" must be updated accordingly. "$LINKSCRIPT" variable holds the URL for the site where the script cgi will be hosted, and the information will be received. "$CHAVE" variable is utilized by the script cgi amarok.cgi, to validate the incoming music information.
The second script "amarok.cgi" requires three variables, "$ARQUIVO", "$QLIST," and "$CHAVE". These variables are used to store and manage the received music information. The "$ARQUIVO" variable stores the filename, "$QLIST" variable records the number of maximum files in "$ARQUIVO," while the "$CHAVE" variable should match that of the "whatsplaying_mao.pl" script to allow recording of entries in "$ARQUIVO."
The format of the music information is recorded in the "$ARQUIVO" file in the format of "HH;MM;SS;YEAR=D;M;TIME OF MUSIC;MUSIC NAME; ARTIST;ALBUM". The hour, minute, second, year, day, and month the information was sent can be viewed using this format.
It is also necessary to host the script on a server with configuration for the support of the cgi-bin directory. In Apache, add the following line "ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /var/www/yoursite/cgi-bin/" along with the VirtualHost configuration for the server where the script will be hosted. Overall, AmarokWhatsPlaying MAO is an exceptional script for receiving music information via Amarok player, and it is recommended to music enthusiasts who use Amarok.
