Software version 2.0 no longer supports backward compatibility functions that were previously available in version 1.0, as they have been deprecated.
To start using this tool, all you have to do is either add it at the very beginning of your startup.pl file or include it in your httpd.conf as a PerlModule. Once that's done, you can override and restore compat functions colliding with mp2 API as needed.
Apache2::compat provides an effective compatibility layer that includes functions that have either changed their API or were removed in mod_perl 2.0. After loading this module at the server startup, your code should work just as it did in 1.0. If it doesn't, please report the bug, but make sure your code is functioning correctly in mod_perl 1.0 first.
Keep in mind that Apache2::compat is implemented in pure Perl and not C. Therefore, its functionality is not optimized, and it's best to port your code not to use deprecated functions and stop using the compatibility layer.
