This software allows users to transform their PC into a machine compatible with Atari software.
ARAnyM/AFROS Live CD is designed as a SLAX-based bootable CD that comes with a small collection of GNU/Linux software, the ARAnyM and the AFROS. It is a safe software option to try out as it boots and runs completely from CD and does not write anything to the hard drive automatically. However, users can write to hard drive from inside the AFROS using the drive D.
It is meant as a demo version of ARAnyM/AFROS and is distributed in the form of a CD ISO image, making it easier to distribute CDs electronically. The ISO image file can be burnt on a CD-R/RW, and an exact copy of the AFROS Live CD can be created.
ARAnyM/AFROS Live CD has a Linux kernel and related software that provides auto boot, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, networking and USB devices as well as other peripherals. When used with AFROS, it provides users with a familiar and friendly TOS/FreeMiNT/GEM operating environment that is user-friendly.
To use the AFROS Live CD, users should set up their BIOS to boot from the CD, insert the CD in the drive, and reboot the computer. Upon reaching the Live CD boot prompt, users should first try to choose the accelerated graphics options, followed by the VESA options if the accelerated graphics options do not work. After a short while, the user should end up in the AFROS desktop.
Throughout the use of AFROS, users should be careful not to destroy any data on the host computer disk drives or other mass storage USB devices. When the user wants to quit the ARAnyM, they can use the Shutdown option of the desktop or the [Shutdown] button in the ARAnyM Setup GUI.
Overall, ARAnyM/AFROS Live CD is a useful and easy-to-use software that offers users an excellent Atari software experience on their PC or IntelMac.
