Aria2fe is a GUI for aria2, a CLI-based program, providing users with a graphical interface.
Aria2 is a high-speed download utility supporting resuming, segmented downloading, and various protocols, including HTTP/HTTPS/FTP and BitTorrent. It supports Metalink version 3.0 and checksum validation, making download experiences safer and more reliable. It is actively developed by Tatsuhiro Tsujikawa.
Aria2fe has many key features, including standalone executability, WYSIWYG editing, intermediate dialogs for download type argument specification, concurrent downloads, unlimited configuration files, argument preview before launch, goback for error correction or forgotten arguments, detailed progress monitoring via xterm, pop-up context menu for editing actions, immediate access to aria2 help, saveAs action for cloning configuration files, point and click operation for most common arguments and default aria2 work log. It has a small footprint.
The requirements for Aria2fe include installing it in your path, installing the aria2 binary and xterm binary in your path, checking permissions and lib dependencies if launching fails. The latest release of Aria2fe includes several major enhancements and completion of the 4 dialogs for download type-specific arguments. It remains statically linked against the Qt libs and is compatible with the most recent release of aria2 (0.12.0). For a complete summary of changes and improvements, refer to the project documentation.
