BetterAWstats enhances statistical analysis and reporting of AWstats data to provide improved insights.
One of the key features of BetterAWstats is its ability to handle multi-site data. This means that if the path to the datafile contains files from multiple websites, all these sites can be viewed in BetterAWstats.
BetterAWstats also boasts rolling months, which means that the 12 months data chart and table will now end in the selected month and display the previous 12 months, rather than only showing the current year from January to December.
Furthermore, rolling days feature is another useful tool that displays the last days from the previous month if the current month is not yet finished. The total number of days shown is equivalent to the current month's number of days.
One issue BetterAWstats addresses from AWstats is the scaling of pages and hits charts. In AWstats, the pages charts are scaled 1:1 to hits. This means that a website with ten images on each page would show a pages bar that is too small to provide any useful information. BetterAWstats provides each bar with its own scale, based on the maximum value over the given timespan, to address this issue.
BetterAWstats also offers average weekday data. In AWstats, data for each weekday would be summed up. However, BetterAWstats builds the average per weekday, allowing users to see how much more traffic their site generates on particular weekdays. This feature helps to mitigate the impact of having more weekdays in a month than others.
Additionally, BetterAWstats also provides the number of visits per weekday, which is not available in AWstats.
To use BetterAWstats, you will require AWStats 6.6 and PHP 4.4.2. The latest version of BetterAWstats features a password-protected config editor, new config options to prevent oversized charts, favicon display for referring sites, among other improvements. Many issues in the software code were also fixed.
Overall, BetterAWstats offers many useful features to significantly improve the statistical analysis of web traffic provided by AWstats.
