This software is a replacement for infobot, built on Bot::BasicBot::Pluggable. It is designed to be more advanced and customizable.
One of the biggest benefits of Bot::Infobot is that it eliminates the need to hack into infobot's code, which let's face it, is pretty horrible. With Bot::BasicBot::Pluggable, you'll find it easy to port over any existing plugins or create new ones to add to your bot's functionality.
After a few hours of tinkering with the framework and creating a brain slurper to import data, I was able to get everything up and running smoothly. It wasn't all smooth sailing, though, as there were a few bits of Yak Shaving that I had to do along the way.
To use Bot::Infobot, you'll need to first create a config file using the .ini style format. You'll want to make sure to include a [ Store ] section with the proper configuration, as well as a main namespace and sub namespaces for each of the plugins you want to use.
Once your config file is set up, you can run "infobot-import" to import your data, which may take a while depending on the size of your brain and the store method you're using. Finally, just type "infobot" in the same directory to start up your bot and start chatting away.
