BubbleMon is a dockapp designed to monitor system activities, inspired by GNOME's BubbleMon applet. Its interface provides users with an intuitive visualization of real-time system status updates.
One of the exciting new features of BubbleMon is the translucent CPU load meter, which provides accurate CPU load measurement. Another great feature is the yellow duck that swims back and forth on the water surface just for fun. The load average and memory usage screens are also included with the new BubbleMon applet.
You can lock either of the info screens so that they stay on top of the water/duck/CPU screen, enabling you to view both statistics simultaneously. With BubbleMon, you can add a pretty nifty toy to your desktop setup. Plus, the app supports a range of operating systems, including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Solaris 2.6, 7, and 8.
Code optimization has been taken to a new level since version 1.0 of this applet. Even with all features compiled in, BubbleMon still utilizes very little CPU time. The Load Average screen is locked at about 20%, providing a particularly sexy look (pictured at right). If you prefer the original "BubbleMon" look, all extra features can be compiled out or disabled on the command-line.
If you are looking for a reliable and aesthetically pleasing system monitoring dockapp, BubbleMon is an excellent choice. Its unique features and low CPU usage make it a must-have for tech-savvy users.
