Learn to create your own Virt-P2V Live CD with step-by-step instructions. Convert physical machines to virtual ones easily with this software.
To use Virt-P2V, there are two modes of operation. You can choose to use the standard mode of operation, or you can choose to build a customized Live CD. With the customized Live CD, you'll be able to include specific server details that are unique to your organization. This will allow the Live CD to run mostly or completely automatically.
It's worth noting that in both cases, files and disk images are transferred from the physical machine over the network to the virtualization host machine over ssh. As a result, you'll need to ensure that sshd is running on the virtualization host, and that it's accessible to the host.
Be aware that the Virt-P2V script should only be run from the Live CD. It isn't designed to run outside of this environment, and if you try it could do some damage to your machine. However, the script does have some checks in place to try to prevent you from doing this.
Finally, it's important to know that Virt-P2V will not modify the physical machine, its disks, configuration, etc. It's simply designed to help you migrate from a physical machine to a virtual machine guest.
