CHARGE is a thrilling arcade game available on both Linux and Windows. It's fast-paced and promises an exciting and engaging gameplay experience.
While the concept of the game might not be new, CHARGE provides better playability by giving visual keys to the ball's position using per-pixel lighting. It is a freeware game available for non-commercial use. To install, execute the "install.sh" file and follow the instructions. Note that you must run it as a root to install it in a system-wide location. Additionally, you can play the game without installing it. Simply make sure that the game files are in your current working directory and execute "charge."
Once you start playing, CHARGE creates a directory in your home folder where your configuration, high scores, screenshots, and the log will be written to. Press F5 to save a screenshot to your user folder while playing, ESC to pause/exit the game, or F2 to end the game immediately. You control your bat with the mouse or the arrow keys for an extra challenge. Right-click to adjust the camera, and middle-click to reset it.
To play CHARGE, your system must have a Pentium III 650Mhz or better processor, 64 MB RAM, and 15 MB of hard drive space. Additionally, you need an OpenGL 1.2 compatible graphics processor and a minimum of 8 MB of video RAM. A resolution of at least 640x480 at 16-bit color depth is also necessary. It is recommended that your graphics card is capable of pixel-shaders and a resolution of 1024x768 at 24-bit color depth.
CHARGE also features four types of power-ups, including Expansion, Score, Extra Life, and Health. These items come into play when the ball catches one, and the last player to hit the ball will receive a power-up.
Finally, the latest release of CHARGE includes several enhancements. The camera is now adjustable, and depth highlight on walls has been added. Additionally, an issue with walls being too bright on fixed-function pipelines has been fixed. Overall, CHARGE is a fantastic arcade game with exciting features and excellent playability.
