Charon simplifies reselling of internet access using WiFi access point.
One of the standout features of Charon is its use of the mikolaj.cx settlement/micropayment system to enable the charging of clients for the access they use. With this in place, the software can offer secure, fraud-resistant access to both the end-user and the access provider. Charon makes use of cash-based settlement, reputation tracking, and PKI-based non-repudiable contracts.
To make the software even more useful for providers, cash prepayment support has been added in this newer release. Prospective users now have the option of paying with cash or credit card, with funds being transferred directly into their mikolaj.cx account. This balance can then be used at any other Charon-enabled hotspot.
Administrators can see their transaction history and real-time balance query from the administrative Web pages. This release also added the ability to detect and add PayPal's Akamaized IP addresses to the firewall at every upstream reconnect, making Charon's credit card payments more usable worldwide.
Overall, Charon is a reliable and easy-to-use tool for reselling Internet access through WiFi hotspots. It offers a secure and trusted transaction process while enabling access providers to streamline their business operations.
