check_afs_rpc is a Nagios plugin used for checking AFS file servers and determining if there are any client connections that need a free thread. It aids in maintaining the efficiency of the file servers.
By default, check_rxdebug issues a critical error if there are more than eight connections waiting for a free thread and a warning if there are more than two. However, the thresholds can be modified as per your requirements with the --critical and --warning options.
Whenever you use check_afs_rpc, it will always render a single line of output that will display the number of blocked connections, indicating whether this is critical, warning, or okay. The installation instructions can be obtained from the INSTALL file.
To use check_afs_rpc, you need to run it with the following mandatory and optional arguments - the hostname of the AFS server being mandatory. The optional arguments include --critical, --help, --port, --version, and --warning, which serve different purposes such as defining a critical number of blocked connections, accessing usage info, specifying connection port, and providing warning thresholds for the number of blocked connections.
The latest release of check_afs_rpc has added compatibility with embedded perl (ePN).
