Confiserie is an Autoconf/Automake-like project.
The main goal of Confiserie is to teach users good behavior when creating software, rather than solely relying on autotools without any understanding of the process. Confiserie exists for several reasons. First, autoconf relies on the knowledge of two languages to be used and extended: Bash and M4.
Second, autoconf requires the creation of many "unused files" which are files produced to produce another file using autotools, where only one file is required. This can be achieved more easily with well-designed shell scripts. Moreover, programmers often learn Shell to perform simple SA tasks and find autoconf scripts unreadable. The output of an autoconf/automake is often unreadable and does not take advantage of modern make.
Finally, Confiserie is designed to be educationware. Its main goal is to teach users good behavior when creating software and not solely depend on autotools without any understanding of the process. In summary, Confiserie provides developers with a fun, useful, and educational tool to create well-designed software with ease.
