This software tool enables KDE and Konqueror users to easily add new menu entries by automating the process with a context menu item called Create New Template Service Menu.
To access the service menu, simply right-click on a regular file icon on your desktop or Konqueror and navigate to Actions, then select Create Template. This will run the shell script, which brings up two dialog boxes. The first box allows you to choose an icon to associate with the Create New... menu entry, and the second box lets you enter the menu text itself. The service menu uses this information to write a .desktop file for the Create New... menu item. The name of the .desktop file is based on the name of the document file clicked on from the desktop and it is saved in the .sources subdirectory of ~/.kde/share/templates.
To install the service menu, it should be placed in ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus and the shell script in ~/bin. Before installing, it is recommended to first install the Simple Service Menu Installer available from a specified location. This installer provides the same service for installable service menus with the same ease as this one does for document templates. To install the service menu, simply right-click on the Simple Service Menu Installer, point to Actions, and select Install Service from the submenu. You can then follow the same procedure to install the Create New Template Service Menu, by placing the shell script in your personal ~/bin directory.
This service menu offers a convenient way to add both installable service menus and templates to the KDE context menu. The project is released under the terms of the GNU GPL v.2.0. In this release, the menu icons have been changed to more appropriate ones.
