Modern GNOME desktop theme available for use.
GNOME, on the other hand, is an international effort aimed at building a complete desktop environment, which includes the graphical user interface that sits on top of a computer operating system, using entirely free software. This includes creating development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on programs that manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.
GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, notably Linux, and as part of the Java Desktop System in Solaris. Although the acronym "GNU Network Object Model Environment" was originally used for GNOME, that acronym is now deprecated. Ultimately, the GNOME project puts a heavy emphasis on simplicity, usability, and making things "just work".
