This software provides a graphical user interface for command-line debuggers. It simplifies the debugging process by allowing users to interact with the debugger through a visual interface.
Apart from typical front-end features (such as viewing source texts), DDD has gained popularity through its interactive graphical data display, where data structures are shown as graphs. This comes in handy when trying to visualize complex data in a comprehensible way.
So, what do you need to build DDD? In order to do so, you'll need the DDD source distribution, the GNU compiler collection (GCC) with version 3.0 or higher (or another ISO C++ compiler), and the LessTif user interface toolkit version 0.89 or higher (or another Motif-compatible user interface toolkit).
If you want to build DDD, the easiest way to do it is to unpack the source distribution, change into the ddd-version subdirectory, and type "./configure; make".
Finally, to run DDD properly, you'll need the GNU debugger (GDB) version 4.16 or later, or another command-line debugger such as DBX, WDB, Ladebug, JDB, XDB, the Perl debugger, or the Python debugger. With all these tools in place, you'll be able to debug your code more effectively and interactively visualize your code's data structures.
