DeadCD is a stripped-down Linux livecd that is built on Debian.
The software bundle includes Mozilla Firefox, MPlayer, Sylpheed, irssi, centericq, OpenSSH, and thttpd, among others. Additionally, DeadCD includes UnionFS 1.0.5, making it probably the first distro to use it for 2.6 kernels. The latest release also includes a list of updates and new additions, such as the inclusion of nmap and 855resolution, among others.
HDD installation is now possible with the easy-to-use deadinstall tool, though it still requires some work. Users can now use the homeimage=hda1/root:home.img boot-option or multiple application wizards in DeadEasy, adding to its user-friendliness.
Other new features include ssl support to msmtp and a successful attempt to get boot from USB cd-rom working. DeadCD is an excellent choice for users who want a minimalistic, yet robust system that has everything they need to get things done.
