Desktop Data Manager is a GNOME Clipboard Manager that functions similarly to KDE's Klipper.
With the recent release of DDM version 0.8.10, the application now includes a Download Manager that supports continuation, threaded/segmented downloading, and downloading from multiple mirrors. Additionally, the Download Manager provides MD5/SHA1 checksum calculation, as well as support for HTTP/HTTPS/FTP protocols. Users can even start the Download Manager daemon from a remote server.
DDM's Clipboard Manager is packed with features. It includes a history function for both CLIPBOARD (Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V) and PRIMARY (Middle Mouse Button) entries, which can be customized to display any desired number of previous item entries. Additionally, the Clipboard Manager displays images and text inline and converts HTML/FTP links (or any link recognized by GnomeVFS) to images that can be pasted into other applications.
Images can also be pasted as new files with a simple Ctrl+V shortcut. By leveraging plugins, Keyboard shortcuts are customizable and easy to use.
DDM's screenshot-taking application is a powerful tool that allows users to capture specific parts of their screen with ease. Users can capture a single window, sub-window, or selected rectangle, or capture the entire desktop. Importantly, DDM's seamless integration with the Clipboard Manager and screenshot-taking application is a standout feature that sets it apart from other Clipboard Managers.
DDM can be downloaded from a variety of sources, including .deb files for Debian-based distributions, as well as rpm and tgz binary packages appropriate for a variety of distributions. DDM depends on Mono and gtk-sharp (>=2.8.0), but these requirements are now included in recent versions of GNOME.
The latest version of DDM (0.8.10) includes a significant number of new features and improvements, such as extended clipboard history, the ability to copy text to and from files without opening the files, and the ability to choose file types when pasting images to a file manager. DDM is now fully translated to Spanish and German, and a partial French translation is available. Overall, DDM is a powerful, feature-rich clipboard management solution for GNOME users.
