DialogQuiz is a game software that features anagrams, hangman, and trivia questions all in one. Players can exercise their brains by guessing words and answering interesting facts.
In total, Dialogquiz contains over 30,000 questions spanning different subject areas, from English monarchs to 80s rock music, and even capital cities. All of the quizzes are console-based and written in Perl, making it easy to play on different Linux distributions like RHEL, Debian, and Slackware.
Although the software has not been officially tested on Unix, it is highly likely that it would also work on this operating system. However, it is worth noting that Dialogquiz is not supported on more obscure OSes such as MS Windows.
To get started with the game, users need to first read the INSTALL file provided for installation instructions. Additionally, users are required to have the dialog tool (which is sometimes packaged as cdialog) and Perl v5.0 or higher.
All quiz questions on Dialogquiz were sourced from Wikipedia, and they have been converted into a suitable format using various tools, including cut, sed, grep, and Perl. Since Wikipedia's content is licensed under GPL, the same licensing applies to Dialogquiz.
Lastly, if users spot any inaccuracies in the questions, they are encouraged to send an email. However, the developer admits that making corrections to the questions may not be feasible due to time constraints. Nevertheless, the developer welcomes feedback, bug reports, praise, criticism, or even invitations to help out deposed Nigerian politicians. Successful installations on non-Linux platforms are especially of interest to the developer.
