This software is a slideshow creator for the Linux command-line, allowing users to easily generate presentations with text, images, and videos without needing a graphical interface.
Diascope works through a text file with the slideshow's description, including images, durations, transitions, audio, and other details. Once the description is processed, Diascope creates a shell script containing the necessary commands to generate a slideshow, and then executes the script. However, depending on your computer's speed, rendering the slideshow may take some time, so you can grab a cup of coffee while waiting or run Diascope overnight.
The great thing about Diascope is that it renders all frames and sounds to the hard disk and keeps track of its files. In this way, if you need to modify the slideshow description file, Diascope will only reprocess the changes, saving you hours of waiting time.
On the downside, you need to have enough hard disk space available to store the rendered files, which is approximately 1.7 GB for one minute of PAL video. Summing up, Diascope is an excellent software that comes in handy for generating compelling photo shows within the Linux command line environment.
