DisSent is a software that efficiently organizes sent mail by separating them into distinct folders from a central email folder.
Many mail user agents or mail clients include a standard approach of handling outgoing messages by placing a copy of every sent message into a particular special folder. However, this approach might not be very useful for people who use mail folders and rules to sort incoming mails. If you're one of these people, then you'll appreciate what DisSent can offer.
Typically, you'll set up your rules so that an incoming email from a specific sender is moved into a separate folder. If you reply to this email, your response will be moved to another folder. This can be inconvenient if you need to look up a message later on, as you'll have to browse through all the messages you've sent in the meantime.
DisSent solves this problem by scanning your mail storage and providing a list of messages along with proposals on where to move them. You can then select the mails you want to move and let DisSent do the actual work.
While DisSent is a useful tool, there are a few known issues that you should be aware of. For example, the progress monitors should be modal so you can't execute other actions while DisSent is busy. Additionally, the protocol SMTP in the login window doesn't really make sense. Despite these minor issues, DisSent remains a great option for anyone looking to manage their sent mail more effectively.
