Doc_comment is a wiki software supporting PHP/MySQL that facilitates document collaboration and review.
Security is at the forefront of the software, using .htaccess to incorporate three security tiers and an extra password requirement for admin access.
Doc_comment also allows for the display of non-HTML files using browser plugins, such as .pdf, .doc, .ppt, .xls, and others.
Installation of the software is easy, requiring the use of DATABASE.txt to create a MySQL database, and htpasswd -c for password file creation.
To ensure the first level of documentation and the menu screen is secure, it's advisable to configure .htaccess in the doc_comment directory, and set the correct path to AuthUserFile within the doc2, doc3 directories. Alternatively, the software can be configured through .htaccess for the directory in httpd.conf.
Finally, set variables within includes/config.php, and check to ensure that PHP has permission to write to the doc directories.
