dvbcut is a Qt-based software that helps to choose specific components of an MPEG transport stream.
dvbcut must first establish the index information of an MPEG file. Thus, when you load an MPEG transport stream file, it prompts you to provide a filename for an index file. If you input a pre-existing file, it is employed as an index if acceptable. The application makes certain that the index contains accurate information about the chosen MPEG file by performing various sanity checks. If you select a file that does not exist, dvbcut will create the necessary index instead.
Once the MPEG file opens, there are two slider options that you can use to navigate through the video. The first is a linear slider that represents the whole video, while the second is a log scale slider that allows users to highlight frames close to the current frame. Additionally, you can add START, STOP, CHAPTER, and BOOKMARK markers at any portion of the video. These markers are exhibited on the left side of the screen. Utilizing the START and STOP markers, you can indicate which portions of the video you want to include in the new file. dvbcut will begin at the first START marker and cease at the subsequent STOP marker. If there are many START markers after the last STOP, the application will restart from the next START marker.
dvbcut also supports AC3. However, it solely functions with MP2 audio at present. The application has received an update.
