This is a wrapper-script software that allows for the automatic creation of a DVD structure, including menus and chapters.
To watch the finished DVD, one can issue the command #> xine dvd://`pwd`/dvd/ or alternatively, they can burn it and take it to their DVD player. There are certain requirements necessary for using dvdwizard such as; dvdauthor 0.6.11, ImageMagick 5.5.7, toolame 0.2l, ppmtoy4m and mplex from mjpegtools 1.6.2, mpeg2enc from libmpeg2 0.2.1, transcode 0.6.4, and sed > 4.0. However, the version numbers mentioned are only the ones tested on the user's computer, and users are free to test other versions.
dvdwizard is part of udrec_suite, a digital video broadcasting streaming toolbox that users of the digital set-top box, dBoxII, can use on Neutrino Linux. The software has undergone a lot of changes over time, including support for multiple titlesets, PAL or NTSC, customizable language of audio tracks, and introduction of configuration files.
Users can install dvdwizard by copying the executable files to a directory contained in their $PATH. These executable files include dvdwizard (main-script), mk_vtsm (creates chapter-selection-menus), mk_vtsm_audio (creates audio track selection menu), dvdwizardrc (various subroutines called from most scripts), chaptercheck (checks and transforms chapter timecodes or intervals), dvdtguess (guess movie title from filename), dvdcpics (creates chapter screenshots for chapter selection menus), mk_vmgm (creates DVD main menu), and mpgprobe (gets video and audio characteristics from MPEG stream).
For users that have an older version of dvdwizard on their computer, they must backup all existing scripts before installing the new ones. This is because the old and new versions are not compatible. Since version 0.4, dvdwizard has incorporated reading parameters from a configuration file. A sample file called dvdwizard.conf.sample that users can install and modify is well documented in the tarball. Users must make a directory called $HOME/.dvdwizard and copy the dvdwizard.conf.sample file into it. They can then modify it as necessary.
