EasyEclipse for Ruby and Rails is a software tool designed for developers who work with Ruby and Ruby On Rails. It provides an easy-to-use development environment for building applications in these programming languages.
The core components included the Eclipse Platform 3.2.1 and Eclipse Tools 3.2.1, both of which offer valuable shared platform services and libraries for a variety of Eclipse projects. Additionally, Java for Windows 1.5.0.09 and Java for Linux 1.5.0.09 were included to allow for the running of Java applications on Sun Java(tm) runtime, packaged for Eclipse use.
For Java development specifically, the package included Eclipse Java Development Tools 3.2.1, which allowed me to edit, compile, run, debug, test, refactor, document and deploy Java applications easily. As for essential utilities, AnyEdit Tools 1.5.6.2 offered a range of useful right-click menus in editors such as "Open file under cursor" and "Open type under cursor." Eclipse Utils Plugins 1.0.0.1 came in handy with saving the cursor position of editors when closing and reopening a file, as well as providing access to common team actions with explorer buttons. Color Editor 1.2.4 simplified things by allowing me to edit with syntax highlighting over 100+ file formats.
Moving on to IDEs for Ruby and Ruby on Rails, Ruby Development Tools 0.8.1 allowed me to edit, test, run and debug Ruby applications, while RadRails 0.7.1.patch-01 simplified the process of creating, testing, and deploying Ruby on Rails applications. Finally, QuantumDB 3.0.3 offered an accessible way to access, manage and query SQL relational database and servers access using standard JDBC drivers.
It is worth noting that this distribution package includes support for CVS in the Eclipse Platform, and I found Subclipse 1.1.8 to be a useful tool for accessing and managing Subversion repositories within Eclipse. Overall, I found EasyEclipse for Ruby and Rails to be a comprehensive and effective tool for those working within this framework.
