A Linux OS that utilizes XFCE window manager and is dependent on Xubuntu.
Curious about the name? Excelixis comes from the Greek word for evolution. The purpose of Excelixis is to have a single disc with all the necessary basic tools, making it a system ready to go. This idea arose due to the arrival of Ubuntu 8.04 when a guide was written on how to install and configure various development environments.
To run the live-DVD, a minimum of 512MB RAM along with a 32-bit x86 processor and a DVD drive is needed. Having a high-speed internet connection is also recommended. After downloading the iso image, utilizing your disc-burning application, such as Nero, Brasero or K3b, to burn the image to a DVD disc is required. Remember to burn the iso as an image rather than merely placing the iso image inside the DVD as a file.
The installation process is identical to that of Ubuntu or Xubuntu, so following any guide describing the installation of any of these distros is possible. To verify that the iso has successfully burned, the iso md5 checksum is 0c0a5379f21531fd167aaa2a8c717281. You can put the DVD in your PC’s DVD drive and reboot to install Excelixis permanently. Simply click the “Install” icon on the desktop and follow the on-screen instructions.
