FarsiTeX is a free system for typesetting Persian/English documents using the TeX program. Bidirectional text is fully supported, and the system is based on Donald Knuth's original TeX software.
To start using FarsiTeX without difficulty, ensure to follow this installation process religiously: First, install the latest MiKTeX from the appropriate source. Next, run FarsiTeX installer and maintain the default directory. Install for "All Users". If you cannot find ftx2tex converter, add c:localtexmfmixtexbin to the PATH manually. Although it's supposed to do that automatically, we are not so sure it's doing it.
Please note that there have been MAJOR changes in the system. Before you begin using the software, read the PDF file first. The editor in this version is similar to the latest released version, but this may change in the final release. You should also note that the installer and the installed files are at the quality level of a test release. There are numerous known issues and bugs. However, they will all be removed before the final release.
We recommend you start by reading the PDF above before installing FarsiTeX, testing it with your old documents, and sharing your notes, pizza, etc. Before running FarsiTeX on old documents, ensure to clean them up by removing .tex, .aux, .toc, and other generated files. In addition, font installation may not work sometimes. If that's the case, try rebooting your machine. If it doesn't help, figure out how to install the farsitex.fon yourself.
Finally, you can create PDF files using the following command after running the regular FarsiTeX: pdfetex "&fapdftex" filename.tex. We will have other mechanisms to do that shortly. You can report your bugs on farsitex.org or discuss them on the mailing list. Several bugs already have workarounds available in the list archives.
