Firefox download complete messages can now be integrated with Linux notifications, enhancing user experience and increasing productivity.
To use FirefoxNotify, users must have Python, DBus, and a Galago-compliant notification daemon (libnotify). Additionally, xdg-utils is an optional dependency if you want to open files directly from the notification.
Note that if you use Ubuntu, you may or may not need to install the package python-dbus.
If you're interested in optimizing your FirefoxNotify experience, there are a few about:config hacks you may find useful. For example, setting browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete to false can prevent annoying download complete pop-ups.
