Flacon is a user-friendly console FLAC player with a menu-driven interface for easy operation.
The basic command to use in Flacon is "arguments" (use C-n or C-p when typing a command). However, there is no "help" command in the latest versions. FLACON sees lists as a number of song groups, with three group levels: title, album, and artist. When the player is searching for the next song, it looks through these groups in the mentioned order.
When a group ends (i.e., group bound is reached when forward or backward play order is set), the higher group changes. If the title group has repeat mode turned on, then neither the album nor artist group will change. The "bounded by" field in Flacon determines the parameters of detecting where the group bound is reached. For instance, if the title group is not limited by the album, and random play order is chosen, songs will be picked from the current artist group regardless of the album.
Groups in Flacon have feature property. This means that, in random order or when only one song is to be selected, the feature set will ensure that each song is played once from that group. Depending on the repeat mode, the next group will be chosen, or the current group will be shuffled again. When the player is set to play one song from a group, the feature will randomly pick a song and play the song at the group edge.
