FreeXit is a food tracking software that organizes and categorizes items stored in the fridge, freezer or pantry. It helps users to track expiration dates of food items using color coding system.
Additionally, users can set whether automatic calculation of the expiration date should be done for each item and classify items as cooked, frozen (the default), or vacuum packaged. Furthermore, you can configure your food categories and set the shelf life for different types of foods to eliminate wastage.
This software allows you to create your storage spaces and sub-spaces, where you can categorize the listed food items. The system applies color coding to show the items nearing their expiration dates. The main features include a printable report of stored food items, printable shopping list, find and replace, spell check on note fields, list sorting, and filtering.
FreeXit also comes with notes on food storage, a tabbed interface where you can toggle displays, two color-coded warning levels that you can customize, a vacuum packaging factor, and a utilities screen to backup, restore, and repair/compact data.
When you first install FreeXit, you'll find some food categories already available. These categories come with suggested shelf life for uncooked and cooked frozen items sourced from the United States Department of Agriculture (Food Safety and Inspection Service) and other credible sources. You can review the numbers and adjust them to match your preferences accordingly.
One of the best aspects of FreeXit is that it was built in Microsoft Office Access 2007, and the Microsoft Office Access 2007 Runtime is included in the installation file. Therefore, you don't need to have Access installed to use it confidently.
Overall, FreeXit is an efficient tool that helps you keep track of your frozen food inventory, minimize wastage, and prevent the consumption of expired food.
Version 1.1: The printable report of stored items was modified so that items expiring soon are sorted to the top.
