FMS is a software tool that enables the creation of various sounds from scratch.
FMS is a Fully Modular Synthesizer software designed for creating a variety of sounds from scratch. The program provides users with the ability to play and manipulate various forms of sound, such as sine, triangular, etc., with customizable frequency and volume settings. FMS also includes features for saving sounds, playing .MUS music, graphically displaying sounds, and generating real noise.
Sound Manipulation:
FMS allows users to play sounds in a variety of ways, including playing sounds one after another or simultaneously, with different sounds on different channels for stereo playback. The software includes options for speech synthesis, on-the-fly playing with direct user access, and asynchronous, pre-computed output, all with modulation options ranging from amplitude to frequency.
Noise Generation:
The software includes four different types of real noise, including nearly-white noise and narrow band noise, that users can modulate for narrowness of the noise frequency band, all for experimental purposes.
Music Production:
FMS includes an auto-converter and player for MUS file format, auto-composer for modern music, and experimental chords for the production of music. Users can create their own music using a MIDI-mapping mode or FMS format, while FMS output is also available in wave format using an experimental auto-converter.
Visual Display:
Users can display the spectrum and oscillogram of any sound being played, while sounds can be saved as oscilligrams in FMS file format or Fourier overtone amplitudes. Music can also be saved in FMS MIDI format, while sound files can be saved in both FMS file format and wave file format with an experimental auto-converter.
Graphical User Interface:
FMS has a minimalistic tcl/tk GUI, a software installation that connects the FMS sound backend to graphical interfaces and outputs (referred to as FROCOR), and a fully modular Qt GUI (currently experimental).
Updates:
The latest release of FMS includes improvements such as synchronous mode, bug fixes, unscrewed display tools, and improved accuracy, as well as a UDS controlled sound backend feature.
