gAnyRemote is a user-friendly Gnome GUI package that offers remote control capabilities for PCs through Bluetooth connectivity. It functions as a frontend for anyRemote, enabling easy control and management of remote devices.
Unlike other Bluetooth remote control programs, anyRemote is not limited to certain phone brands or those capable of JSR-82. It was designed as a thin layer of communication between the Linux system and any Bluetooth-capable phone. Therefore, it can be configured to handle any software. However, Bluetooth is not the only way to use it. anyRemote can accept incoming connections from a network, work with Java clients for JSR82-capable phones, or even use an IR-capable phone or a cable connection.
Additionally, the anyRemote project also offers limited support for existing Bemused clients. Currently, the software has out-of-box support for a range of media players including audacious, bmp, banshee, exaile, rhythmbox, totem, and xmms.
Overall, if you're in need of a wireless remote control service for your Linux system, gAnyRemote project's anyRemote software is a flexible, intuitive, and capable solution to consider.
