Gecko Hamaker is a database application that utilizes the free, open source MySQL database to operate efficiently.
Using Gecko Hamaker, users can generate London Dispersion spectra for each of the materials in the database. Users can then create new projects and assign specific database materials to designated layers within the project. Gecko Hamaker will then perform automatic calculations to determine Hamaker coefficients for the project.
Hamaker constants depict the London Dispersion Force of the van der Waals attraction between two materials. As London Dispersion Forces stems from the interaction between fluctuating dipoles located in the optical and UV regions of the spectrum, Hamaker constants can be calculated from the complex dielectric constants of these spectra.
Gecko Hamaker software individuals to compute London Dispersion spectra for individual input materials spectrum. By employing London Dispersion spectra, the application can determine retarded Hamaker coefficients for layers of thin films. However, presently, the application's number of layers it can calculate and handle is restricted to 99 layers.
