GtkOL-LDAP is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) client software that is built using GtkOL. It supports the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and is ideal for individuals who require an intuitive interface for their directory management tasks.
GtkOL-LDAP extends its functionality by enabling users to establish integrity and coherency rules on managed entries. An example of this is when modifying a group's gid number; the user has the option of setting up an automatic update of all posix accounts that belong to the modified group. This level of automation removes the need for manual updates of the entries. GtkOL-LDAP is based on the libgenerics abstract services and libgtkol object model.
Key features of GtkOL-LDAP include browsing of DN hierarchy and schema tree views, DN search filters, and values editing. Users can also perform add, modify, or delete operations on DN attributes and objectClasses. Additionally, DN templates can be created based on creation, for example, posix accounts, posix groups, and samba 3 accounts.
The application also supports LDIF import/export, password security attributes with automatic hashing (md5, LM, NTLM, crypt), and DN integrity rules setup, to name a few. Lastly, GtkOL-LDAP provides inheritance rules for POSIX accounts, Samba 3 accounts, and POSIX groups.
Requirements for GtkOL-LDAP include GTK+ version 2.8.x, libgenerics abstraction, and libgtkol object model. Overall, the software is an excellent tool for system administrators with OpenLDAP directories.
