GtkPBButtons is a client application that shows popup windows for pbbuttonsd daemon messages.
GtkPBButtons is a reliable app that generates several different types of notifications, such as displaying the current level of display brightness, keyboard illumination level, current volume level, and whether the speakers are muted. It also provides a notification window for when the battery is running low and how long it can last before shutting down.
Another unique aspect of this app is that it also shows the current trackpad mode and provides a warning when a computer is about to enter sleep mode. Other notifications include ejecting CDROM, activating external video, and displaying the status of the external video output as soon as it has been changed by pbbuttonsd.
This app is easy to use and automatically closes each popup window after around two seconds without any changes. While it does require a running daemon, it's a great tool for providing users with visual feedback for those events that the daemon believes the user should know about.
In the latest release of this app, minor bugs have been fixed to ensure it runs more smoothly. Users have reported that GtkPBButtons will play sound again and no longer blocks the sound device when launched as a daemon.
