gTuring is a software tool for GNOME that simulates Turing Machines.
Both expected and written symbols can take on any printable character. The blank space is represented by an underscore (_). State numbers are identified using integers, starting from zero. The only two possible directions a machine can move are left (l) and right (r).
When the program begins, the machine starts at state zero. The simulation will stop running whenever it encounters an unrecognized state or a state that does not expect the symbol that was previously read.
The latest release of gTuring includes an updated interface that is more user-friendly. For example, the new interface contains a table that lists all machine states. While this version allows users to modify existing states, it does not allow new states to be added.
