GXMame is a GUI interface for XMame, built with Gtk. It allows users to easily run and manage their arcade game collection.
The developer behind GXMame wanted to learn GTK, and more importantly, create a decent frontend for XMame. After trying and failing with gnomame, they didn't like any other frontend in Tk either. Thus they decided to embark on this project, and modeled it after the very successful gRustibus frontend created by Kjetil Thuen.
Some key features of GXMame include large icons view, random game selection, detailed view, support for zipped pictures, and scalability of icons. Additionally, GXMame comes with a variety of other useful features such as a joystick support and the ability to create a gamelist from XMame.
To use GXMame, you'll need to have XMame installed. In terms of the latest release, GXMame now has game options that do not override default options and is compatible with old Xmame versions that were previously problematic with hotrod(se) options.
In conclusion, GXMame is an excellent frontend for XMame that offers numerous features to create a smooth gaming experience.
