homeLANsecurity is a Bash shell-scripted firewall designed for use with Netfilter's IPtables. It provides strong security protection for home local area networks.
While HLS has limited error checking, it is not foolproof when it comes to selecting which settings to enable or disable. As the script can be used for both gateway and internal LAN systems, there are many options to choose from. However, not all options are wise to enable for gateway systems, and the default settings are the best for the majority of such systems.
Unlike other firewall software, HLS comes with internal documentation that is not extensive. However, the developer is open to feedback to improve the documentation for version 1.6.0 of HLS. Should users find something unclear, they can drop a short email and provide feedback on what was unclear and why it is unclear. The developer assures that every effort will be made to update the documentation to make it more comprehensive.
