Konqueror's Icon Folder feature allows users to select unique icons for specific folders by simply right-clicking on them, streamlining the customization process with use of the application.
Its main objective is to provide users with the ability to select an icon for a folder in Konqueror. Icon Folder comes with a set of icons that will not overwrite any icons on your system, but please note that there are no guarantees. Additionally, there is a script called "folderduQuebec," which needs to be in your PATH, as well as two Konqueror action scripts that must be in the Konqueror's servicemenus folder.
For system installation, there is an installer script designed for Gentoo that can be used to install the package for a specific user or systemwide. The installer should work on any system with KDE 3.5 in user mode, but please note that systemwide functionality has only been tested on Gentoo with KDE 3.5. There are no guarantees that the installer will work for you, so install at your own risk.
To install manually, create a folder and unpack the package into it. Then, open a Konsole terminal and run "cd /where/you/unpacked/the/files ./install.sh". A kdialog will pop up to ask for systemwide or user installation mode. Choose user mode and follow the prompts. If you choose system mode, the installation may not work unless your KDE basedir is /usr/kde/3.5/.
For user installation, simply move the following files: "scripts/folderduQuebec" to "$HOME/bin" (make sure that "/home/yourname/bin" is in your PATH), "scripts/colorme.desktop" and "scripts/iconfolder.desktop" to "$HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus," and "icons/*" to "$HOME/.kde/share/icons/(YOUR CURRENT ICONSET)".
For system installation, manually install the package by unpacking it to a folder and copying the following files to their respective locations: "scripts/folderduQuebec" to "/usr/bin," "scripts/colorme.desktop" to "(KDE BASEDIR)/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus," "scripts/iconfolder.desktop" to "(KDE BASEDIR)/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus," and "icons/*" to "(KDE BASEDIR)/share/icons/(YOUR CURRENT ICONSET)."
