IDMS Firewall is a simple firewall script with stateful connection tracking. It is user-friendly and easy to configure.
Installing and running the IDMS Firewall is easy. Firstly, untgz the package and navigate to the kernel/ and iptables/ directories. Apply the patches to the kernel and iptables, including IPTables if required. Then proceed with re-compiling, installing, and carrying on with the instructions below.
Secondly, copy an example configuration file from the examples/ directory to the IDMS Firewall directory and rename it firewall.conf. Thirdly, edit the firewall.conf file to your preference, keeping in mind your system requirements. Finally, run the start_firewall command and ensure to monitor your system log to identify any errors that you may have left out in the firewall config file.
In this new release, the start_firewall script now has an added feature that allows us to avoid modifying the kernel table by using the DONTWRITE variable. You can use the IDMS Firewall to enhance the security of your computer system, and it is an excellent choice for both beginners and advanced users.
