IDSS, an open-source app allows HTML questionnaire creation and parsing.
IDSS stands out from other survey tools, as it implements a decentralized approach rather than relying on web-based surveys. Employing email attachments to contact respondents can significantly improve response rates, as it eliminates the technical difficulties that are often associated with website surveys.
The application accepts HTML questionnaires as input files, which can be created using commercial software like Microsoft Word, or a HTML webpage designer like GNU Gedit, Open Office Write or KOMPOZER. However, it is advisable to create questionnaires using HTML natively to shorten the computing time.
IDSS is easy to use, with no coding experience or knowledge of network programming required. This makes it an excellent choice for surveys with time constraints, allowing medium-sized questionnaires to be designed and distributed within a day.
IDSS offers three verbosity levels; standard, -v and -W. The standard level does not require command-line specification and offers basic I/O without the extra correspondence tables. Level -v provides more detailed error warnings, error or information messages, and correspondence tables. Level -W triggers silent mode with no on-screen display. Log generation is ensured with option -J in the current folder as "Log.txt" or with the filepath as an argument of -J. Final pauses are suppressed by option -p.
Overall, the IDSS is an excellent open-source application that provides an efficient and user-friendly approach to survey management. It is highly recommended for any business that requires a survey tool with flexibility, cost-effectiveness and efficient computing times.
