ImageJ Plugins provides custom plugins for ImageJ software.
The DCRaw Reader is a plugin that opens more than 200 digital camera raw image formats, serving as a wrapper for the DCRAW executable. Raw images are converted to PNM images and then read into ImageJ while running in the background. This plugin is located under Plugins/Image IO. The DCRaw Reader plugin information is also available under the ImageJ menu Help/About Plugins.
Installation of the plugins can be accomplished simply by copying the ij-dcraw_.jar file found in the ij-dcraw package to the ImageJ plugins directory. The plugins are available under the Plugins/Image IO menu, while brief help for each plugin is obtainable through the Help/About Plugins menu. The Reader plugin likewise searches for the DCRAW binary in the dcraw subdirectory of the ImageJ plugins folder by default. However, an alternative location can be specified by adding a property ".dcrawExecutable.path" to the ImageJ properties file IJ_Props.txt in the ImageJ home directory. An example is provided to showcase how to do this.
It is important to note that reading 48 bit RGB images using the Reader plugin requires ImageJ v.1.35p or newer. Earlier versions of ImageJ will only support regular 24 bit RGB images. Java 5 or newer is also required, as well as the DCRAW executable (instructions can be found in the Installation section).
In this release, the code has been recompiled to be binary-compatible with Java 1.2 and newer (previously only 1.5 and newer), resolving bug report #1470386. Additionally, the DCRAW executable binaries have been updated to v.8.13.
