InfView is a user-friendly software designed for viewing information.
While the old info program was designed with UNIX users in mind, InfView has been created to be an interactive tool with a strong focus on the visual component. It boasts overlapping windows, full mouse support, pull-down menus, pop-up windows and more - providing a superior graphical interface. Unlike other graphical implementations, InfView is relatively small and incredibly fast. In fact, the installation for the first release is just 263Kb - a fraction of the size of some Win32 implementations.
InfView was initially developed in 1996 to enhance RHIDE's help system. Since then, the creator has contributed a standalone text editor that also uses InfView as the help system. The standalone version of InfView was developed in response to user feedback. It offers several advantages including smaller memory requirements, a specialized command line, menus, and features (e.g. tileable windows).
While InfView may not include every feature found in the traditional info program, its approach to documentation navigation is second to none - thanks to its rich graphical interface and user-friendly design. If you're looking for a more intuitive and interactive approach to learning through documentation, InfView is definitely worth a closer look!
