IPCam software detects and records motion for IP cameras.
Once motion is detected, ipcam switches to recording mode and creates a new directory to store the JPEG images in separate files. Once recording is complete, ipcam can launch an external program to further process the JPEG files. For instance, you can use mencoder to create a movie file of the JPEG files.
Do note that ipcam does not accept any command line arguments and will only log to syslog(3). At the moment, it only supports the Sitecom LN-400 or LN-401 camera.
To install ipcam, you simply need to edit ipcam.h to configure it and then run the make command. The new release comes with bugfixes and runs smoothly on Linux. To run ipcam, you need to have gcc, make, and libjpeg installed on your system.
Overall, if you want a software that can detect motion and start recording on your IP camera, ipcam with its easy installation and simple configuration might be a good option to consider.
