Microsoft Messenger can now be accessed via IRC through this gateway software.
While it may not be perfect yet, the concept behind this program is truly impressive. The idea for this software came about when the developer was frustrated with having to juggle multiple programs for both IRC and MSN. There didn't seem to be any MSN clients that could also handle IRC, so Verelst decided to develop an IRC client that could do MSN instead.
The result is the IRC gateway for Microsoft Messenger - a program that allows for easy connectivity to MSN via an IRC server written in Perl. If you're running into issues when running the program, however, it is worth noting that this is still a work in progress and is being heavily developed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend giving the IRC gateway for Microsoft Messenger a try. Just be sure to reference the DESIGN document included in the package and to install all required Perl modules correctly. While it might not be perfect yet, this program has a lot of potential to make life easier for users who need to juggle both MSN and IRC on a regular basis.
