The IRE - The IT-HE RPG Engine is a 2d role-playing game engine modeled after Ultima 6.
IRE is controlled by scripts that are compiled into interpreted code, enhancing the engine's portability. To run IRE, your computer must have the Allegro graphics library, NASM or Alogg (if you want to recompile). Additionally, IRE comes with a few exciting new features in its latest release.
The new release uses Allegro 4.2, a more pronounced upgrade from the previous releases. Among other updates, there is now a new optional logic system that IRE uses to handle the death of the hero. Previously, the game would continue with other party members if the hero died. However, this feature has been updated, and the game can now halt instead, just as in Ultima 6 and Ultima 7. Besides, the update comes with several other improvements to the editor.
The newest release of IRE fixes several issues that existed previously, including bugs involving loading maps, and creatures such as dragons and jaguars, where they would not cross bridges, and also where they could walk through trees. The game is more optimized now, which means it uses less CPU, especially when idling. Overall, IRE - The IT-HE RPG Engine is simple to use, and it's a great tool for designing cross-platform role-playing games.
