Irrlamb is a 3D game with physics-based gameplay that can be quite challenging and may lead to frustration.
If you are using Ubuntu 7.04, you will be happy to know that the installation process is relatively easy. First, if you have an Nvidia card, execute the following command: sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-dev. For those using ATI, use the command sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx-dev.
Once these initial steps have been completed, you can move on to the next ones. To install most of the dependencies, use the command sudo apt-get install build-essential scons liblua5.1-0 liblua5.1-0-dev libaudiere-1.9.4 libaudiere-dev libxxf86vm-dev libxext-dev.
The last step is to download the latest libraries-ubuntu-7.04.tar.gz package from the downloads page. After downloading irrlamb*.tar.gz and unzipping it somewhere, unzip the libraries to irrlamb/libraries by executing the command tar -xzf libraries-ubuntu-7.04.tar.gz -C irrlamb/.
From here, all you need to do is compile the game with the command scons and then run it with ./irrlamb. Despite its frustrating gameplay, the irrlamb project certainly makes up for it with its immersive 3D physics and rewarding gameplay.
