The Katesort plugin is a KPart plugin designed to function with all KPart compatible editors such as Kate and KWrite.
With Katesort plugin, you can sort by ASCII or numeric value, ascending or descending order, and even do a case sensitive sort. Additionally, it allows removing of duplicities, and you can sort according to a given column. If only part of one row is selected, selection is automatically filled in the dialog.
When it comes to installation, the process varies depending on your distribution. If you're running Gentoo, you can follow the HOWTO for installing 3rd party Ebuilds. Once you've created a portage overlay, you need to create a directory for Katesort plugin and download the ebuild. You'll also need to create a digest before running the emerge command. After that, you can enable the plugin in editor preferences and run it from the tools menu.
For other distributions, you can try to get a package that's compatible. If none is available, then you can compile it from the source code. Just make sure you have the kdelibs-devel package and development stuffs installed. Finally, if you're able to send a package for your distribution, you're welcome to do so.
